The Background: RCM Energy Services was selected by American Electric Power (AEP) to provide Engineering, Procurement and Construction services for the AEP Esperanza 138kV Substation Project.

The Challenge: The Project involved construction of a new three (3) breaker ring bus 138kV substation, a double-circuit 138kV line which interconnected the new Esperanza Substation to the existing Blessing – Celanese 138kV Transmission Line, as well as, modifications to the existing Celanese Substation. The new Esperanza Substation will supply AEP’s customer with 50 MW of power in order to support the customer’s new facility.

The Solution: Using our integrated design and construction processes, RCM leveraged the talent of the Energy Services team and our innovative technologies to develop the design of the new substation and modifications to the existing Celanese Substation based on AEP Standards. RCM included early construction involvement with our local partner using 3D modeling and visualization tools to develop the integrated execution plan as part of our risk management process and approach to EPC work. Our on-site project and construction management expertise provided the oversight to deliver a safe and successful turn-key project for AEP.
